The Witsand nature Reserve has a remarkable attraction in that the sands make a noise - referred to as the Roaring Sands. This occurs only when it's dry (which is most of the time) and is said to be the grains of sand rubbing against each other. This photograph is of the white sands (dunes) which form a ridge in the red sands, which are more common in the area.
